It was a huge bigtop tent filled with the locals. We were the only white people in the group! We started to get into the wrong line for tickets and someone helped us. They also helped us get the attention of some of the food vendors walking through the crowd and helped interpret some of the business/money transactions(along with Tyler who is fluent). I was struck by how helpful, kind, welcoming we were treated. I made a mental note to self after that experience to make a greater effort to extend a friendly hand when faced with diversity. You're right, doors to friendship and understanding just start flying open when you do this!! And you're right~kids just do it naturally. Adults, take note!Lana Mae Kamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07277677595729033387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7884945926456185571.post-49888295484382316202008-11-20T00:03:00.000-05:002008-11-20T00:03:00.000-05:00And, Gracie, yes. We all get too comfortable in our rut and it was nice to see what fun it could be in the "rough" (golf reference, not any other implied meaning!).SeaSaw Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12970680983961303275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7884945926456185571.post-84024534518601076872008-11-20T00:01:00.000-05:002008-11-20T00:01:00.000-05:00Smells I'm not supposed to know about but do becau...Smells I'm not supposed to know about but do because of my life on Mackinac. There is no fear in that. <BR/>Although I don't think you name anything foreign, I wonder if as we journey toward the other (what is different, unknown, and even uncomfortable), we'll find that the journey so shapes us that we wouldn't want to miss out, and ultimately, that we really do have more in common than we are different?Graciehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11327730281856269987noreply@blogger.com
